Mini-Sentinel modular programs (MPs) are SAS programs designed to run against the Mini-Sentinel Common Data Model (MSCDM). They allow rapid implementation of standard queries across the Mini-Sentinel Distributed Database (MSDD). The programs can be customized using various input parameters that define medical product exposures, diagnoses, date ranges, age ranges, and other implementation details. Output contains summary-level counts (e.g., number of members exposed, number of members with a specific diagnosis/condition) stratified by various parameters (e.g., age group, sex, year). It also includes metrics on denominators and eligible member days associated with each result stratum, allowing for the calculation of proportions and rates.
Modular Program #7 reports the top XX most frequent diagnosis, procedure, and/or outpatient pharmacy dispensing codes prior to and following an index medical product exposure or event of interest. Example: top ten most frequent NDCs 183 days prior to and 60 days following an incident diagnosis of stroke. By default the program will report metrics for prevalent and incident index, pre-index and post-index exposures/events. An option to group codes by drug category or generic name (NDCs) and general name (diagnosis and/or procedure codes) is available. Modular programs are periodically updated; new versions are released for each update.
Functionality of retired modular programs has been integrated into the routine querying system. Click here for more information.
