    Description

Please join us for a free one-day training on Sentinel’s Cohort Identification and Descriptive Analysis (CIDA) tool, which will take place the day after the 35th International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology & Therapeutic Risk Management. CIDA is a flexible SAS-based analytic tool that can identify and extract cohorts of interest from data in the Sentinel Common Data Model format. It has been used in hundreds of FDA-initiated requests that have supported medical product safety assessments.

This full-day training will be comprised of a series of presentations and an optional hands-on exercise exploring CIDA’s capabilities. We will review available user-defined options (e.g., exposures, outcomes, continuous enrollment requirements, incidence criteria, inclusion/exclusion criteria, relevant age groups, and demographic criteria such as sex and race) and guide participants through how to answer epidemiologic questions using the tool. The main session will run until 2:30 PM.

Following the main session, participants may elect to stay for an optional SAS®-based lab session that will show attendees how to parameterize the CIDA tool for a sample query. Participants should be proficient in SAS and will need the following technical components to participate in this optional session:

    • A personal laptop and charger
    • SAS (University Edition is acceptable)
    • Microsoft Excel

► Participant Materials available here: CIDA Lab Material

Location:  Irvine Auditorium on the UPenn Medical Campus, located at 3401 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104
