Description
This report contains the rates of the 10 leading causes of death in the United States and the proportional mortality of these causes. The National Vital Statistics Reports named the following causes of death as the ten leading causes of death in the United States in 2014:
- diseases of heart
- malignant neoplasms
- chronic lower respiratory disease
- diabetes mellitus
- cerebrovascular diseases
- nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis
- influenza or pneumonia
- Alzheimer's disease
- accidents
- suicide
The rates are defined with death and cause of death codes in the Sentinel Distributed Database (SDD) from 2000 to 2016. This request was distributed to Data Partners on November 21, 2016.
